This was reported by the Governor of the Bank of Thailand (BoT) in a speech at the business summit Bloomberg ASEAN. The Governor of the BoT Verata Santiprabhob said the bank is exploring the use of blockchain solutions document authenticating, supply chain financing and cross-border payments. According to Santiprabhob, the use of blockchain for cross-border payments will strengthen regional ties and facilitate cross-border financial services. The BoT Governor also pointed out that blockchain plays an important role in reducing fraud and protecting financial information. During his speech, the Governor said that the bank continues to work on updated rules that encourage competition and innovations. Recently, Thailand has taken several steps to regulate cryptocurrencies. In March, the digital currencies and ICO regulation project was accepted. Last month it became known that the Central Bank is preparing to release its own cryptocurrency to improve interbank payments. |
