Manuel Quevedo, the country’s minister of petroleum and the president of state-owned oil company PDVSA, announced that Venezuela was going to make El Petro “the main digital currency of OPEC in 2019”. In one of videos, the minister says that oil-backed El Petro will become a base for making black-gold-related transactions.
As Cuban State News Agency Prensa Latina reports, Venezuela’s government is planning that El Petro will enter international market in Q1, next year. Manuel Quevedo is sure that it will help not just to improve country’s economy, but will “guaranteedly” ensure its growth and prosperity. The Minister says that they are going to sell fuel for planes and ships and etc. for El Petro.
