Skambots are used for free Bitcoins and Ethereum distribution and it involves bot-armies mimicking celebrities and high-profile users (including Mr Musk and Donald Trump), in an attempt to trick ‘normies’ into sending them coin. Earlier, some MyEtherWallet (MEW) users that used Hola VPN service were warned to transfer their money to new accounts due to security issues. For almost a year bots are copying celebrities Twitter accounts and use it for commenting fake Bitcoin and Ethereum sales in order to trick new users and cryptocurrency investors. Twitter is no longer the best option for major accounts because it’s used for fake token sales and giveaways that have lots of retweets. Bots used Mr Musk account as well and posted lots of messages for ETH giveaway. |
