According to Odaily, the company Qihoo 360, a leader in the local market of cybersecurity, added a new feature to its antivirus 360 Total Security – a blockchain firewall, which is capable, for example, to protect a crypto-wallet from hacker attacks, securely store passwords and prevent manipulation with a clipboard. The company recommends turn the “blockchain firewall” on in 360 Total Security when trading cryptocurrencies. If an attacker starts to manipulate the data in the PC buffer, user will receive a warning. Last week, 360 Total Security discovered a new virus like “Trojan Downloader” called Clipboard Hijacker, which affected a large number of Chinese cryptocurrency users. It replaces a wallet address when they transfer funds to addresses in the bitcoin or ether network. Virus monitored activity of a buffer in the PC and tried to determine if there was any cryptocurrency address. Having found such an address, it replaced it with one that was under control of a hacker, and then redirected user’s payment to it. In June, in a post on Weibo, the company reported that it had blocked more than 50 thousand such Trojan attacks and prevented a theft of cryptocurrency worth more than 40 million yuan. Qihoo 360 has been working on blockchain-related cyber security measures for a long time. For example, at the end of May, the Vulcan team, a part of Qihoo 360, discovered several vulnerabilities in the EOS network and then helped to fix them. According to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qihoo 360 Hao Ho, in the near future the company will release three new solutions aimed at protecting blockchain ecosystem, namely, a security audit system for a digital currency wallet, a monitoring system and a system for ensuring the security of blockchain nodes. |
