The Central Bank of Canada published the results of a study of the popularity of Bitcoin in the country, which was attended by 2,500 Canadians. The Bitcoin Omnibus Survey was conducted at the peak of the price growth at the end of 2017. Thus, 85% of the Canadian know about Bitcoin; for comparison, at the end of 2016, this figure was 64%. At the same time, the number of users increased from 2.9% to 5%. Note that in 2016, the main goal (39%) of the acquisition of Bitcoin was to pay for goods. In 2017, more than a half of cryptocurrency users (58%) bought it for investment purposes, and only 10% of holders used it for payments. |
