In July 2018, Google officially entered blockchain market. The company admits that they need to bring themselves up to speed with their competitors. Digital Asset Holdings and BlockApps start ups developed blockchain technology that was added to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and user can freely access it. Moreover, later this year Google is integrating new blockchain platforms Hyperledger Fabric and Ethereum GCP. Due to this partnership, Google will be able to offer financial industry and its clients a platform where they can develop and launch blockchain based apps. Digital Asset hopes that partnership with Google is going to help promoting Modelling Language service (PaaS). Leonard Law, the head of financial digital cloud company, added that tools are going to be useful for developing product outside financial industry as well. A lot of IT corporations, including Microsoft and IBM are working on developing blockchain technologies and offer it as a service (blockchain-as-a-service, BaaS). However, Google lost the opportunity to be one of the leading companies in this field, said Sergey Brin at Blockchain Summit in July 2018. |
