8% of Canadians who own bitcoins use cryptocurrency as an investment. This is evidenced by the research of the Bank of Canada. It is noted that in 2016, the most common use of cryptocurrency were transactions, while in 2017 Canadians mainly used bitcoin for investment. According to the survey, for 58% of respondents, the main motivation to buy bitcoin was “investment”, 12% did it because “their friends have bitcoins”, 7% were interested in new technologies, and only 6% planned to buy goods and services with the help of the cryptocurrency. |
