The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) announced the launch of the world’s first blockchain court to explore how to aid verification of court judgements for cross-border enforcement.
DIFC representatives partnered up with Smart Dubai developers in order to design legal platform based on blockchain.
According to press release, the final purpose of the partnership is to streamline the judicial process, remove document duplications and drive improved efficiencies across the legal ecosystem. The platform is going to be used for documents duplication and various basic operations that will increase the efficiency level.
Companies officials explained that all the necessary prep-work will be done beforehand and then all the system will be moved to blockchain.
It should be noted that the initiative is a part of Dubai ?smart innovations? development strategy that includes transferring of all government operations to blockchain by 2020.
We note that various Dubai government services have already announced the development of their own blockchain initiatives as a part of the strategy.
For instance, the Dubai Department of Economic Development is planning to develop blockchain based platform for commercial companies registration. In June, the management of free economic zones of Dubai airport reported the development of blockchain platform for Free Zones. Last year, Dubai immigration department and British blockchain startup reported development of the system that eliminate manual passport checking at Dubai airport. The National Bank of Dubai reported a successful implementation of the technology in receipt issuing process in order to prevent fraud. |
